TMC Negombo successfully organised an evening of single malt whisky tasting at Camelot Beach Hotel, Negombo on 6 May Friday evening. They have carried out this cheerful fund raiser with the support of the Rotary Club of Negombo.
This exclusive evening was patronised by only a limited number of 60 corporate invitees which includes the members of TMC Negombo and four members of the Rotary Club of Negombo.
Though malt tasting is somewhat uncommon in our country it is not just drinking whisky but getting to know about the art of making your most loved spirits and wines and also the art of drinking it, said TMC Negombo Chairman Dhammika Fernando, welcoming the guests for the evening. This evening was facilitated by Rockland breweries Ceylon Ltd. and the host hotel of TMC – Camelot Beach Hotel, Negombo. The master taster was Rockland Brand Marketing Manager Manoj Nalliah. Chairman TMC Negombo recognised the support and the presence of Rotary Club members and their President Ajith Weerasinghe.
The evening was dedicated to introduce GLENFIDDICH, finest of single malt whiskeys made in the highlands of Scotland. It was an enjoyable and educative evening as the audience was taken through the historic journey of making this finest single malt and the intriguing nitty-gritties of the fine art of brewing and aging this world’s most awarded single malt. The participants were introduced to the 12-year-old and up to 18-year-old varieties and the distinct taste, smell and the colour of it as well as what goes with it. The event culminated with a light fellowship dinner hosted by the TMC Members. The event was co-chaired by TMC Negombo Treasurer Dilanjan Ranasinghe and Executive Committee Member Nalin Basnayake.
