  • Hosts ‘Employee Appreciation Week’ to felicitate outstanding performers
  • Tailor-made employee recognition schemes to identify and reward top performers
DHL Express Sri Lanka, committed to creating a first-class work environment, recently organised an ‘Employee Appreciation Week’ to applaud, and express gratitude for the tireless work put in by all its employees in taking the company to greater heights. The event recognised everyone’s commitment to the company’s values of passion, speed and a positive, proactive attitude. To celebrate this momentous occasion, over 200 employees participated in various activities organised throughout the week such as traditional breakfasts, a movie night, a green day and a cricket festival, which created a platform for team members from all functions to interact with one another in a family environment. DHL Express South Asia Senior Vice President and Area Director Malcolm Monteiro said: “We strongly believe that we can have satisfied and engaged customers only if we have motivated and engaged staff. Thus at DPDHL we continue to invest in employee engagement. DHL’s Certified International Specialists Program has provided a learning and development platform certifying all 100,000 employees in over 220 countries and territories worldwide is a case in point. Be it learning platforms like the one above or Group-wide employee recognition awards or community programs that foster team bonding while fulfilling DHL’s corporate social responsibility, DHL continues to engage employees across various levels.” DHL Express Sri Lanka Country Manager Manish Patel stated: “Motivated employees are a key factor in maintaining market leadership. Through employee engagement our aim is to continue to be an employer of choice by empowering our staff and giving them challenging assignments. The Employee Appreciation Week was a resounding success and we look forward to engage and motivate our workforce through other annual events such as volunteer day and family day.” Long service awards also continue to be an important part of the company’s HR policy. The longest serving employee has been a part of the organization for over 30 years which further strengthens the belief that sustaining employee commitment along with a motivating internal environment is a key success factor and enhances employee performance. Apart from rewarding the employees through programs such as Employee of the Year and Overall Sales Person awards, the company has also understood the importance of identifying employee motivational factors such as listening to their needs, concerns and ideas. In this regard the company runs an annual employee opinion survey for which all employees are eligible to participate in a 100% confidential environment. The results of the survey help the company identify how its employees perceive their working environment and their opportunities to grow and make an impact, as well as help identify the sense of pride each employee takes in working for the company.
