A program presented by Gihan Thalgodapitiya on 4 September
Thalgodapitiya’s presentation will cover the following areas, which is very important in the current business world where cost reduction through creativity and innovation is becoming a vital factor to be considered. This is another very valuable presentation organised by the Management Club in association with the DFT
With ever increasing competition and eternally reducing margins many companies have realised that it is mandatory to think about cost reduction. Survival and growth for any organisation is dependent on its ability to either differentiate or achieve cost leadership. Cost reduction is an integral part of both these strategies and in today’s context companies have no choice but to embark on every possible means of reducing cost.
Cost reduction is everyone’s responsibility irrespective of functional or hierarchical boundaries. Therefore, focus on cost reduction and waste elimination is a must for all. Any individual’s ‘action and inaction’ can have a significant implication on profitability, productivity, competitiveness and survival. Cost reduction efforts can also lead to value enhancement, product development and market expansion.
Cost reduction is dependent on an organisation’s ability to be creative and innovative in its products, processes and practices. Research has proved that an organisation’s ability to innovate has a direct relevance to its success and growth in productivity. This one-day workshop presented by veteran corporate trainer Gihan Talgodapitiya will provide dozens of illustrations on how innovation has brought about cost reduction in both service and manufacturing industries in many companies he has served in the Asian Region.
Participants can look forward to absolute practical tools and techniques based on a blend of Japanese, Singaporean and Western examples and experiences. The program includes many strategies for eliminating non-value adding costs and waste, reducing overhead costs, enhancing value and developing managerial effectiveness and efficiency.
He will also differentiate cost cutting and cost control from cost reduction, speak on Kaizen costing and target costing and value engineering. Talgodapitiya will provide insights into how companies can embark on enhancing productivity through innovation with a structured and sustainable approach whilst encompassing companywide participation from all levels of employees.
