The MBA Alumni Association, University of Colombo will hold its Annual General Meeting on 17 July at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Colombo Residencies.

Mackwood Group of Companies Chairman and Former High Commissioner to United Kingdom Dr. Chris Nonis would grace the occasion as Chief Guest. In addition, University Grants Commission Deputy Chairman Dr. P.S.M. Gunaratne and Faculty of Finance and Management Dean Dr. R. Senathiraja will also be present as Guests of Honour.

It is customary for the Association to elect new office bearers and a new Executive Committee at the AGM. It is expected that all alumni will be present at this occasion, which also gives an opportunity for fellowship and networking.

The Association has over the years been well known in the business community, organising several key professional functions. Among them are the annual budget seminars, both pre and post. There is a pre-budget seminar where the business community is invited to discuss proposals with Senior Treasury officials including the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, enabling their comments to be captured in the Budget Speech and the Appropriation Act. After the budget is presented in Parliament, there is a session to explain to the general public the intricacies of the legislation. Both these events are immensely popular and the public await these events for their impact on their work.

There is also a Management Conference which brings to the business community the latest in leadership information. The Association has become a vibrant entity which seeks to build close ties with the University of Colombo and assist it to raise the bar of the MBA program in par with the international standards.
