The Sri Lanka Chapter of the Chartered Management Institute of UK (CMI) together with knowledge partner, KPMG have organised an evening presentation to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with business growth through mergers, acquisitions and restructuring.
The evening presentation is scheduled for Wednesday 10 October 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Kings Court.
The event will feature a series of presentations from the perspective of strategic investors and business entrepreneurs who have successfully demonstrated growth in their businesses through structured acquisitions, mergers and process restructuring.
The presentations will be followed by an interactive panel discussion moderated by Reyaz Mihular, Managing Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka and with an eminent panel of industry experts including Asanga Seneviratne, Managing Director of Anilana Hotels and Properties, Mohamed Ziauddin, Managing Director of Norfolk Foods, Trevor Mendis, Course Director at Imperial Institute of Higher Education for BSc & MBA programmes, Suresh Perera, Principal – Tax & Regulatory and Shiluka Goonewardene, Principal – Transactions & Restructuring of KPMG Sri Lanka.
A spokesman for CMI said business growth is undoubtedly a key priority for corporate leaders in the contemporary world. However, organic growth can take longer periods of time to accomplish set objectives and will significantly depend on environmental impacts and market conditions.
In an ever-evolving market place, mergers and acquisitions have amply demonstrated as effective alternatives to organic growth enabling businesses to expand, grow and diversify much faster and often more effectively than they would have in the past.
Businesses also face challenges to periodically restructure organisations and key processes not only to enhance the operational dynamics, but also to be congruent with the changing world. While these alternatives seem lucrative and pragmatic, there are also significant risks and implications which need to be adequately assessed and addressed. The presentation will focus on some of these issues.
