CMA partners ICTA in National Management Accounting Conference

The CMA National Management Accounting Conference 2017 is hosted by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka the National Professional Management Accounting Institution incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 23 of 2009 and the National Partner will be Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) Sri Lanka. 

The conference will be held from 17, 18 and 19 July at the Kings Court, Hotel Cinnamon Lakeside.

The theme of the conference is ‘Digital Transformation – A New Strategic Imperative’.

The inauguration of the conference will be on 17 July from 6:30-9 p.m. followed by a reception. The inauguration session will have International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) UK CEO Richard Howitt giving a keynote address on ‘Integrated Reporting in a Digital Environment’ and Prof. Ho Yew Kee giving a keynote address on ‘Digital Transformation in the Accounting Profession’.    

The CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2017 will be presented at the inauguration of the conference. There will be awards for the 10 Best Integrated Reports, overall winner – Gold Trophy, 1st runner up – Silver and 2nd runner up – Bronze. In addition there will be sector awards for Banking, Finance and Insurance, State Owned Enterprises, Industry and Commerce and SME Sector.  

The technical sessions will be held on 18 and 19 July from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. There will be eminent foreign and local speakers who will address the technical sessions.

There will be eight technical sessions comprising of:

The first session Digital Government will have a keynote address on ‘Digital Government Moving form vision to reality’ and two topics ‘Vision of Digital Government to transform a Nation into digitally empowered society and knowledge economy’ and ‘Digital Sri Lanka’.

In the second session on Digital Economy the keynote address will be ‘Digitisation for Economic Growth and Job Creation’ and the other two topics ‘Private-Public Partnership to accelerate digital economy development’ and ‘Digital Economy – The Millennial Employee and Millennial Consumer’.

The third session will be on ‘Fin Tech and Digital Banking’ the keynote address on ‘Digitisation, Fin Tech and Future of Banking Industry’ and the topics on ‘Digital Reinvention of an Asian Bank’ and ‘Fin Tech – Innovations in Digital Payments’.

The fourth session will be ‘Digitisation Practical Applications’ – Panel Discussion and will cover success stories of government departments such as Inland Revenue, Immigration and Emigration Department issue of passport media, mobile industry, e-commerce, taxi service and other successful digital applications. 

On the second day session five will be on Creating Value through Digitisation. The topics will be Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development in a Digital World, Digitisation of Ports and Business Analytics and Big Data in Digital Business.

The sixth session will be on Cyber Security, Risk Management, Governance and Compliance. 

The topics would cover Governance, Risk and compliance in a digital world, Cyber Security – Cyber Threat Management and Risk Management in the Digital Economy.

The seventh session will be on Digital Education and Skill Development.

The topics would cover Digital Higher Education, Digital Skill Development and workforce transformation.

The eighth and final session will be a Panel Discussion on Digital Transformation – Building the next Generation Accountants. This will have Presidents from SAFA accounting bodies, universities and advanced technological institutes.
