CA Sri Lanka commences seminar series on IT Governance Risk and Compliance

In its continuing efforts to keep professionals abreast on the latest ICT related issues and trends, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently kicked off a seminar series on ‘IT Governance Risk and Compliance (IT GRC).’

The IT GRC seminar series organised by the CA Sri Lanka IT Faculty which commenced during the first week of June will conclude on the 27 June and will feature expert presenters from the industry who will delve in detail on IT governance, risk management and compliance to a target audience comprising CEOs, COOs, heads of finance, heads of IT, heads of Risk, internal auditors, risk managers, IT executives and managers, as well as mid-level operational managers.



The seminar series kicked off on 6 June where the audience was educated on security in a changing landscape, which was presented by Sujith Christy Secretary – ISC2 Chennai Chapter/Board member ISC2 Colombo Chapter and Director of Layers 7.

This was followed by the second seminar on information security management on 13 June by Wasantha Perera, ISC2 Sri Lanka President and head of information security and compliance at the Colombo Stock Exchange.



The next seminar will be held on 20 June on IT Governance and Strategy which will be presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka, Manager IT security technology advisory services division Janindu De Silva.



The fourth seminar in the series will be conducted by ISACA Vice President and head of IT security and compliance and principal consultant at LOLC technologies Parakum Pathirana, who will delve in detail on business continuity management.



The fifth and final seminar will be on IT general controls, application security and vulnerability management which will be jointly presented by KPMG Manager IT Advisory Buddhika De Alwis and KPMG Senior manager IT Advisory Mahendiran Prashanthan.

CA Sri Lanka President, Sujeewa Rajapakse speaking on the seminar series, noted that the institute was continuously making efforts to educate its stakeholders on various trends and issues facing all sectors including in the IT sphere.



“This is a new initiative aimed at educating accounting professionals on the importance of IT GRC,” Rajapakse said.

CA Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer Aruna Alwis noted that the seminar series was a fresh effort aimed at enhancing the ICT knowledge of members and the general public.
