At the request of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, TMC’s Board of Management Executive Committee Member, with the assistance of family and friends in the medical profession in Australia, has worked tirelessly to coordinate and arrange urgently needed medicines to meet their needs.

The list of medicines will be sourced through an NGO in India and shipped to Colombo soon. Members of the Board of Management of TMC have met the Health Ministry officials in this regard to obtain the necessary advice, guidance and documentation required to have such donations of medicine to be received.

In addition to these medicines, a consignment of orthopaedic equipment has also been identified and collected to be sent to Colombo. This project by TMC is supported by the Chartered Management Institute Sri Lanka Branch and the SAARC Ladies Association. TMC together with the Chartered Management Institute UK Sri Lanka Branch have in the past carried out numerous projects, chief of which was to alleviate the suffering of tsunami victims in Sri Lanka. They built some homes in Galle for those whose homes were destroyed and an extension of an orphans home to house those who were orphaned in Pamunugama, and with the support of the WHO brought down seven psychiatrists from Chennai for trauma counselling. Financial donations from the CMI UK Institute and generous donors from UK provided assistance towards this cause at that time.
