The inaugural meeting of TMC Wattala was held on 4 November at 7 p.m. at the Pegasus Reef Hotel, its host hotel. The meeting was preceded by a ‘getting to know each other session’. The rain and traffic had its impact on attendance, however the meeting commenced with around 15 members present. There were a few excuses.
President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem elaborated on the history, vision, mission and benefits of TMC membership. He further spoke of the tangible and intangible benefits which he said was unique in character and how a TMC card can open the doors to numerous benefits at all the host hotels namely Galadari, Berjaya Mount Royal, Camelot Beach, Hibiscus Beach and last by no means least the Pegasus Reef Hotel.
Fayaz Saleem also outlined the criteria for membership: A prospective member must be in management for a minimum of three years with recognised academic or professional qualifications or five years in management in a reputed organisation without such qualifications.
He then spoke of the different activities that the club might wish to organise either on its own or together with another, and the need to have small events to which its members and guests can be invited. He also said that the life blood of any such institution is membership, and therefore developing its membership would be a priority.
Fayaz was delighted to see how the members accepted positions in the Executive Committee, and he thanked and wished them the very best in their endeavours.
