The executive committee of The Management Club Mount Lavinia has lined up an exciting roadmap of events for the membership in the next quarter. The team is committed to keep the membership engaged in management development, socialising fellowship events and knowledge gaining seminars.
To begin with, an exclusive wine and cheese tasting event has been planned on 30 April, to welcome wine and cheese lovers to indulge in an exciting array of vintage wines and exotic cheeses whilst enjoying the company of fellow members and their guests.
The event will enable members to meet, greet and network whilst enjoying and learning about the sensory examination and evaluation of wine and try cheese they might not choose on their own.
Next in line will be a five-series seminar conducted through Zoom meetings on cyber security exclusively for TMC members. The program is scheduled to run in two-hour slots over five days and a course completion certificate will be awarded to participants from CISCO. As the internet economy grows in leaps and bounds with products and services progressively shifting to web platforms it is now more important than ever for organisations to ensure that their managers are well-informed to safeguard critical information and data from the threat of malicious attackers waiting to find weaknesses which they can exploit. The Management Club believes that these seminars will benefit its membership and better equip them to face the challenges of cyber security.
Finally, in June, there will be a leadership development program for managers, focused on developing influencing and negotiating skills of managers who lead teams across different disciplines.
The Management Club Mt. Lavinia as a part of its commitment to develop leadership qualities in management, will embark in rolling out a series of management development programs in partnership with Ebenezer Double Edged Solutions Ltd. The programs will be made available to members and the general public through The Management Club and this workshop will be conducted starting June.
The first of the workshops will focus on the manager’s ability to influence. The ability to influence is an important leadership skill. A manager in order to influence has to have an impact on the attitudes, behaviours, opinions and choices of others. Most managers take up the position or post without this essential leadership skill and face difficulties in leading teams to deliver the right kind of results. To Influence is not to control with authoritative power, nor is it about manipulating employees and customers to get one’s way. Leadership is about observing what drives and motivates an employee commitment and using that knowledge to leverage performance and positive results.
A leader’s ability to have influence with others is based on trust; in fact, our influence expands in proportion to the amount of trust that exists in a relationship. The workshop will shed light on how leaders effectively build trust and increase their influence with others. The program will be advertised for participants to register from May.
The executive committee of TMC Mt. Lavinia invites and encourages the membership of TMC to fully engage and take the most out of these exciting activities coming up starting 30 April.
