In 2016, the NCE entered into a strategic partnership with the well-known multinational professional services firm Ernst & Young (EY) to develop a ‘Strategic Plan’ for the Chamber for a period of five years.  Along with the strategic plan, EY also assisted the Chamber to prepare an operational manual to make it highly professional in the delivery of services to exporters.

Thereafter, EY which provides assurance, advisory, tax and other professional consultancy services covering many commercial aspects to the Sri Lankan corporate sector, came on board in 2017 through a collaborative agreement to assist the Chamber with professional inputs for the judging process of the Annual Export Awards event. This was as a facilitator to the panel of judges, to ensure transparency, and integrity in the selection of award winners, to enable benchmarking of this event with a high profile and credibility among the business community in Sri Lanka, especially Sri Lankan exporters.

In 2018 EY entered into a separate agreement with the Chamber, as its ‘Strategic Knowledge Partner’. During the lockdown period related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the strengths of EY as the Strategic Partner came into play, as the Chamber was able to set up a ‘Help Desk’ in partnership with EY and the Association of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) to provide professional services to export oriented ventures, including assistance to prepare proposals for business recovery for submission to the designated commercial banks under the Re-finance Schemes of the Central Bank.

The Council of the Chamber appreciates the valuable services provided by EY, to make the awards event transparent and ethical in all aspects related to the judging process for the selection of award winners in a fair manner conforming to high professional standards, in addition to its strategic knowledge inputs for other activities of the Chamber.
