The team from INSEE Cement Sri Lanka that participated in the internationally-recognised Glo-Bus, a business simulation course, recently was among the top 100 out of 2,656 teams in 135 colleges and universities across the world, demonstrating that the company has competency on business acumen required of future industry leaders.

INSEE Academy joined hand with the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) for the Advanced Course in Strategic Management program delivered through Glo-Bus simulation to equip selected team members to face the emerging dynamic and challenging business environment.

The course enabled participants to learn the essentials of strategic management and apply them in a highly competitive simulated market environment, making an impact through learning. The 18 participants in six teams experienced four months of continuous effort. While all teams reached the top 100, ‘ECAM’ finished as the overall best performers, ‘BIT CAM’ topped the worldwide global list with a Return on Average Equity of 194.8%.

The best performing Glo-Bus companies were measured on four performance variables – overall Score, Earnings Per Share, Return On Equity and Stock Price.  All teams met the tough investor expectation set up for the five performance factors by scoring 90 and above.

“The managers showed excellent resilience and never gave up.  This augurs well for INSEE Cement to have managers who could lead into the future,” said Dr. A.K.L. Jayawardana of PIM who facilitated the workshops for the team as the key coordinator. He thanked the EXCO members and functional heads of INSEE Cement for their valuable contribution in making the program a success.

“We are confident that the participants will now translate this knowledge and experience to the success of INSEE,” he said and added: “This is the best performance I have seen in simulation in my last 14 years of work in Australia.”

INSEE Cement CEO Nandana Ekanayake commented: “The company is pleased and proud of the significant success of our team that clearly demonstrates the calibre of our people and our ability to contribute to building a better future for the nation.”
