As the year comes to an end, our story begins a new chapter. Under the ‘Play For All’ initiative, ETD is proud to partner with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) who supported this venture as the sponsor to keep this journey going. It is with great pleasure that we announce that a brand new inclusive park has now opened at the Epex Park (adjacent to the BRC grounds).
At the opening, Member Services Committee (CIPM) Chairman Jayantha Abeyratne said they were very happy to see that their proceeds from the Great HR Walk fundraiser was used for such a noble and innovative cause.
CIPM President Dhammika Fernando added, “The education of children begins through play, and this park will help children understand the unique differences of people and accept each other through their common bond which is joy.”
The park is retrofitted with wheelchair accessible swings and merry-go-rounds, as well as accessible pathways which are all complemented by an aesthetic background. This park fruition was a step in the right direction, according to Enable the Disabled Foundation President Jezaayar Hassendeen; she also added that without the parents and children who graced this occasion none of this would have been possible and she is greatly indebted to their support. She stressed the fact that without the support of donors such as CIPM, these ventures would never have seen the light of day and that she is grateful for their contributions.
Her gratitude also extends to the board of management members from TMC (The Management Club) and members of ETD for their unstinting support at all times. She referred to the success of the smooth operation for this initiative was all thanks to the Government officials from the Colombo Municipality led by Titus Perera, and also to the Western Province Governor Dr. Seetha Arambepola.
