The Best Employers Club, launched in September 2019 by Great Place to Work, convened its second strategic meeting for the 2021/22 season virtually with a focus on ‘What Matters to Millennials,’ to follow up on the second consecutive annual publication of the Best Workplaces for Millennials in Sri Lanka 2021. This followed the first meeting which was of regional significance, in alignment with the announcement of Asia’s Best Workplaces 2021 and exploring the topic of ‘The Future of Employee Wellbeing’.

Commencing with a presentation of insights into millennial employees from data collected and analysed over the past year by Great Place to Work. Thereafter, a case study presentation by 99x COO Shehani Seneviratne, on her organisation’s approach to employee satisfaction, having appeared on the Best Workplaces of Sri Lanka list for nine consecutive years.

Next was a peer learning opportunity related to key areas identified from the insights. HNB Finance CEO and MD Chaminda Prabhath shared: “I consider myself fortunate to have participated in the second Best Employer Club Strategic Meeting, as it was an excellent session which helped us increase our knowledge and exposure from others’ experiences. In the peer learning sessions, participants shared their experience in working with millennials. In addition to the valuable opportunity of networking with other industry leaders, we learnt about best practices from their organisations on how to create value and invest further on the millennial workface for future success.”

The meeting ended with a panel discussion on creating ‘Future-ready Workplaces’ with panellists from two of the Best 15 Workplaces for Millennials in Sri Lanka 2021 – Synergen Health and HNB Finance, represented by Surinda Gunawardena and Chaminda Prabhath. Synergen Health Managing Director Surinda Gunawardena said: “The Best Employers Club event gave so much more content and learnings which we could implement in our company. It is a continuous learning process that we all go through.”

The Best Employers Club is a CXO forum where organisations that have been recognised on any one of the Best Workplaces lists over the past eight years are extended a membership invitation and provides an exclusive knowledge-sharing and networking forum for senior leadership with access to special benefits, including select events. 99x Founder and CEO Mano Sekaram, stated: “I see the Best Employers Club (BEC) as a useful program from GPTW to drive organisational culture and how we take care of our people. Regardless of the industry, I believe there is much to learn from each other and the BEC forum facilitates that discussion. Great initiative!”
