New IGP in town

Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundara was officially appointed as the 34th Inspector General of Police (IGP) by President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday. He was nominated as the next IGP by the Constitutional Council out of three names proposed by President Sirisena, when it was met on Monday. Former IGP N.K. Illangakoon retired on 11 April, paving the way for the new appointment.
