The Kingsbury has always been big on celebrations and if you were at the ‘Tea Dance’, you’ll agree that The Kingsbury is really ‘celebration central’ in Colombo. Brining the fine traditions of a Tea Dance for the first time in Sri Lanka, The Balmoral was transformed to a picturesque, elegant setting for what only could be described as the most splendid Mother’s Day event ever! Executive Chef Kithsiri De Silva and The Kingsbury culinary team performed the ultimate tribute to mothers by laying out an international spectacular buffet. Prepared to perfection and presented beautifully, the feast consisted of an astonishing 200 plus items! Another highlight of the event was the entertainment, as renditions of classics by Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Frank Sinatra, Gloria Gaynor and many others were performed by the band Ricky and Legacy. The music sent the dance floor into a frenzy as patrons waltzed, jived and celebrated with the nearest and the dearest at The Kingsbury.
The Kingsbury experienced a record turnout and all restaurants were packed to capacity for Mother’s Day. The next event on the calendar is ‘Father’s Day’ and you can certainly expect The Kingsbury to rise to the occasion once again to pay a fitting tribute to the fathers too.
