Spa Ceylon Luxury Ayurveda, the global wellness lifestyle brand, this week opened its grand 3,000 square foot signature store and Ceylon Lounge in Japan’s prestigious Ginza shopping district, considered to be one of the most exclusive shopping precincts in the world. With this opening, Spa Ceylon is now the world’s largest Luxury Ayurveda chain with 45 locations across 12 countries.
The ceremonious opening held on 21 November was attended by Prof. D. Ganganath Dissanayake, Sri Lankan ambassador to Japan and a high profile guest list including top Japanese and Sri Lankan corporates and international media.
Speaking at the opening, Spa Ceylon Director and Co-founder Shalin Balasuriya stated, “We see a lot of potential for the Spa Ceylon brand in Japan. Even through this is a mature market with many international players and strong domestic brands as well, we feel that the proven, high performance formulae with natural ingredients,luxury presentation of Ayurveda and branding elements from Ceylon will set us apart and will be key to the success of the brand in Japan.”
This is their second location in Japan following the opening of their boutique in Nihonbashi, Tokyo in October. Further expansion in Japan is planned with the addition of up to 12 new outlets within the next 12 months.
Internationally, Spa Ceylon recently launched two Duty Free stores in Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA1 and KLIA2 in October and a second 4,000 square feet Spa and Boutique in the historic Galle Fort in Sri Lanka just last week. Further new openings are scheduled for December 2016 with Airport Duty Free locations in Mumbai, India and Male, Maldives; downtown locations in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Karachi, Pakistan; and the first store down-under at the popular Melbourne Central mall in Australia.
“We will reach our target of 50 stores internationally by the end of 2016, and have plans to open 30 new locations in 2017, en-route to the big milestone of 100 stores across three continents by early 2018,” said Co-founder and Director Shiwantha Dias. “2017 will see Spa Ceylon enter several new key markets.The second quarterwill commence our European roll-out with store openings in Italy and Austria featuring close to 300 of our EU compliant formulations. Mainland China is anotherhigh potential market with boutique operations planned to commence in the third quarter.”
Recently, Spa Ceylon has also expanded their product offering to include several new natural collections of aromatic luxury soaps, organic virgin coconut face and body care, almond Kajal eye-liner, neem and tea tree facial care, solid perfumes concentrates and an extended range of home aromas.
