By Marisa Wikramanayake Colombo’s fashion conscious have a new destination for all their shopping needs. Splash, the Middle East’s largest high street fashion retailer, opened its flagship store at 175, New Bullers Road in Colombo 4 yesterday. Softlogic Brands Ltd., the subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings PLC, is the franchisee for the Splash brand in Sri Lanka. In the 7,000 square feet of space that used to be the Dilly and Carlo store, shoppers will find formal, smart casual, casual wear, lingerie, leisurewear and accessories for both men and women, including ‘youth’ sections for the 16 to 30 year old demographic.             Shoppers will be able to buy brands endorsed by the ambassadors for the company, Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Esha Gupta and Arab star Nicole Sabaas, such as Lee Cooper, Bossini, ELLE and Being Human. “We want to cater to the Sri Lankans who want to wear high quality clothes that are affordable and stylish,” G. Natarajan, Softlogic’s Head of Operations for its Branded Apparel Division said. Gavin D’sylva, Splash’s Retail Operations Manager, is confident that the store will do well. “We have our own designers and we want to do everything, from outfitting the store to the quality of the products exactly the way we want it so that the customer has the best experience possible,” he said. “We also think we can definitely be competitive in the Sri Lankan market – we are offering people an easier way to get high quality clothing that they do not have to fly overseas to purchase instead.” Splash is a part of the Landmark Group and has its headquarters in Dubai. Softlogic is also the franchisee in Sri Lanka for the Tommy Hilfiger, Nike and Charles and Kay brands.           Pix by Lasantha Kumara
