Rainco, a leading brand for rainwear in South Asia with a presence in India, Maldives and Sri Lanka, will partner the Colombo Fashion Week for the very first time at its inaugural Resort Wear Show to be held later on this month.
Rainco has a range of umbrellas to suit all tastes, including fashion umbrellas for women, kid’s umbrellas, as well as a complete selection of unique and sturdy men’s umbrellas which come in both full size and compact, with all umbrellas being designed and made in Sri Lanka.
With over 40 different types of umbrellas ranging from tiny toy umbrellas to premium wooden beach umbrellas, and umbrellas that cater to people of all ages and from all walks of life from golfers to kids, Rainco has become known as a brand that’s suited to different lifestyles and current trends.
Talking of his decision to join hands with Colombo Fashion Week, Rainco Industries Managing Director Fazal Fausz said: “An umbrella has become an essential hand carry accessory for today’s woman. There is a big vacuum for an umbrella that looks luxurious, feels good, and is high in quality. With our 37 years of history in manufacturing beautiful umbrellas, we are ideally suited to partner with the inaugural Resort Wear Fashion Week, as what better accessory at a resort than a beautiful umbrella which is both functional as well as being a fashion statement?”
“Colombo Fashion Week has always maintained that its sole purpose is to create opportunities and the platform for local designers, and Rainco with its future plans to create fashion-related accessories will stand to benefit from this opportunity,” said Colombo Fashion Week President Ajai Vir Singh. The Resort Wear Show will showcase 10 designers both local as well as international with their Resort Wear collections on 22 September 2012 at Jetwing Lagoon, Talahena, and Rainco, with the launch of the fashion week collection, will roll out a new premium range of umbrellas in line with changing global fashion trends.
Resort wear is growing in popularity as a spinoff from the spring/summer season, hence it will combine swimwear and beachwear. Being the first Resort Wear Show in Sri Lanka, the show has been timed and planned in line with other fashion weeks around the world showcasing the following year’s spring/summer resort wear trends.
“South East Asia has a concentration of resorts and a resort culture. If you look around, you can start from Maldives, Goa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc, with Sri Lanka being a centre or a hub for commerce and interaction between fashion designers and their resort wear collections. In addition it’s a growing category and we wanted to plug it in with the global season. I think Sri Lanka is ready for a second but more focused fashion week, so by God’s grace here we go,” said Singh.
