Mondy last week launched its largest and first ever resort wear collection unveiling 150 fresh designs at its flagship store at Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 7.
The main aim behind the launch according to Mondy Brand Manager Theruni Wijeweera was to attract younger clientele to the store. Traditionally the clothing store targets female corporate clientele in the age group of 25-40, the leisure wear concept this year aims to draw clients from 16 and older.
“We thought it was time we offered our customers all the options available and the full wardrobe. Since we have a more elegant and sophisticated outlook when it comes to office-wear we thought to carry that onto leisure wear as well because what we find in the market for leisure wear is much more casual wear than resort wear.”
“Our usual client base that is a working woman, and our traditional customer base are the women in the 25 to 40 age group and through this launch we are looking at the younger market as well 16 and above. Now everyone is able to wear what they want,” she added.

Mondy celebrated the launch of its Resort Wear Collection with a chic High Tea amidst a gathering of loyal customers, celebrities, corporate executives and female business leaders. They also launched their rewards loyalty card.
Adding variety to Mondy’s elegant and colourful selection, the new collection offers contrast amidst the rest of the display, especially Mondy’s signature office wear collections.
Showcasing a variety of designs, prints and shades with a youthful focus, the resort collection is displayed in a newly refurbished area as an exclusive segment of the store. Decked in red and white, the stores theme colours for the festive season, and the doorway lined with glowing floral lanterns, the store was transformed with a festive spirit for the season.
Delicacies prepared especially for the event by a Master chocolatier and Award-winning patisserie of Sri Lanka were placed amidst Mondy’s collection of handbags and shoes. This offered guests the chance to mingle and appreciate the beautiful pieces on display across the store while nibbling on the savoury and sweet delights and having their photographs clicked.
The occasion also marked Mondy’s appreciation of its loyal customers with the unveiling of the Milan Raffle where a lucky customer would win an all-expenses paid trip to Milan with a $ 1,000 shopping allowance. An iPhone promotion closed the evening with a fun selfie taking session which enticed the younger crowd.
