Revolutionary flip-flop brand ‘Waves’, in another pioneering venture, created a unique opportunity for the first time in Sri Lanka for fans of their products to engage with the brand at a special promotion titled ‘Make Your Own Waves’ recently. The promotion was held on 22 and 23 October at the Crescat Lobby. The first purchase was done by DSI Group Managing Director Kulathunga Rajapaksa.
The special promotion which was conceptualised by the ‘Waves’ team invited fans to create and decorate their own flip-flops. Customers could use a wheel-of-fortune type display to match their sole and strap from a variety of psychedelic and luminous colours. They could then add as many designer pins as they like from a collection on offer. Taking it a step further, customers were also invited to put together their own design using traditional shoe-making methods.
Glitz and glamour were added to the event with the presence of popular youth icons like gifted musician Dushyanth Weeraman and former Miss Sri Lanka Stephanie Siriwardena who were on hand to help customers mix, match and create their signature designs.
Waves also brought in their specially modified Volkswagen van to add colour and excitement to the event. The conceptual Volkswagen was modified to display the range with a work station that made customs flip flops. This was enjoyed by many shoppers and families both local and foreign who made their way through Crescat over the weekend.
