La Langousterie is back. The historic venue on Mount Lavinia Beach is being relaunched tomorrow (10), serving a new menu created by an experienced chef with a selection of seafood, mains, tapas and cocktails with live entertainment on the weekends.
What started off as a beach shack in the ’70s run by a French chef who served only fresh lobster, later evolved into one of the most popular places for people to dine and dance in and around Colombo in the ’70s and early ’80s. Now it is back!
Enjoy sunsets while sipping on the new cocktails, try the fresh signature mix Lavinias Kiss prepared with local spirits, fresh ginger and jaggery, finished with basil oil and lemon grass. Join in an evening of Christmas blues and Jazz music with Jerome Speldewinde and his band along with other bands on 23 December. Guests can also join La Langousterie to celebrate New Year’s Eve this 31 December, with a seafood BBQ and live jazz music to send you dancing barefoot on the beach.
A patron said: “A quiet and private location, ideal to relax and have a meal by the beach. I enjoyed a Sunday evening there with live music giving it a chilled out ambiance, good seafood and competitively priced.”
“Lovely atmosphere, great service and excellent food. Highly recommended!” another added.
La Langousterie was established in the 1960s, a popular local restaurant and entertainment venue that has been serving Colombo for over 50 years. It is now back, open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 12 midnight.
