Nigel Barker with Dana and Deen from E FM
E FM, Sri Lanka’s only Lifestyle radio station, recently joined a number of other, top local brands in helping bring Nigel Barker, a celebrated fashion photographer, and “America’s Next Top Model” and “The Face” judge, to our shores, facilitating a unique opportunity for the domestic fashion and photography fraternities to interact with a true international icon.
E FM also helped power the 23 July “Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts Presents Nigel Barker” half-day seminar for local photographers, fashion designers and industry personnel from related sectors, wherein Mr. Barker made presentations entitled the “The Art of Fashion Photography”, “Modelling for Success”, “Building and Managing your Brand”, and the “Inspirational Story of Nigel Barker.”
A top fashion insider for many years, Barker had his start in the industry modeling in London, Milan, Paris and New York. Thanks to his work ethic and perseverance, he eventually rose in stature to become a celebrity fashion photographer, with credits in GQ, Interview, Seventeen, Town and Country, etc. However, it was 17-cycle stint as a judge of “America’s Next Top Model”, alongside host Tyra Banks, and his current job on UK-based “The Face”, hosted by Naomi Campbell, that resulted in his true worldwide celebrity status. He is also a highly respected documentary filmmaker and author.
Commenting on E FM’s role in helping bring Nigel Barker to Sri Lanka, EBC Radio Chief Operating Officer Chalaka Gajabahu said, “It is through events such as these that the standards of the Sri Lankan fashion industry will get elevated, enabling us, and our unique fashion, music and lifestyle to be valued even more on the global stage. We are already coveted for our beaches, heritage and friendly people, so isn’t it time our culture too has a greater impact on consumers worldwide. We at E FM have, and will continue, our long-running efforts to bring true international icons to Sri Lanka’s shores, benefitting our listeners tremendously.”
