Along with the infrastructure and economic development, the development of the arts within the country plays a vital role in its integrated process of development and growth.
With that in mind a public lecture has been organised by the Central Bank on ‘A new era of development – More than a dream’ to discuss strategic ideas to develop cinema industry as a part of the overall development plan. The lecture will be conducted by eminent Film Director and the Director of Communications of Central Bank of Sri Lanka Asoka Handagama.
Handagama has directed a number of award winning stage plays, television features and films and has been involved in the local drama and theatre scene from 1985. Some of the films he has directed are Ini Avan (2012), Aksharaya – A letter of fire (2005), Flying with one wing (2002), Me Mage Sandai – This is my moon (2000), Moon Hunt (1996) andChanda Kinnarie. The discussion is open for the public and will take place today at 5.00 p.m. at the auditorium of the Centre for Banking Studies, Rajagiriya.
