To coincide with Universal Children’s Day, Abans will conduct a program for kids aged from 6 to 12 at their Kollupitiya Elite Showroom at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday 22 November. As the theme of the program is ‘Go Green with Abans’ all the kids participating in the program and their parents are requested to come dressed in green. The program will start off with a unique game called ‘Name Train’ which is an ice-breaker where the kids will have the opportunity of introducing themselves in a fun way and getting to know the other participants. This will be followed by a short educational video presentation on the environment. The main event will be a handicrafts competition where participants will have to demonstrate their creative talent. Participants must bring their own materials such as bottles, tins, dried flowers and foliage, waste wood and other scrap items with which they intend to produce their creations. Gum and scissors will be provided. There will also be a drawing competition where young artists will have to draw a picture using pastel colours to depict the ‘Go Green’ theme and the environment. This competition and the handicrafts competition will be judged in two age groups: 6-8 years and 9-12 years. There will be an interesting demonstration on how to grow a plant in a pot and how to care for it, after which each kid will have the opportunity of growing a flowering plant in a pot, that will be supplied, and which they could take home with them. The program will end with a lively dance competition where the kids can show off their talents on the dance floor. There will be attractive prizes for winners and runners-up of the three competitions and refreshments for all. For registration call 0726341786.
