It’s magnetic, it’s wondrous and revitalising – The Ocean, The Kingsbury’s reimagined seafood restaurant, echoes the quintessence of what the ocean is all about. Set amidst an unfolding canvas of the Indian Ocean and offering an abundance of the freshest seafood into the gourmet landscape, The Ocean’s extensive menu is thematically one with the sea. From the catch of the day to Sri Lanka’s famed crab, from modha to tuna, trout to salmon and even imported cod, the show kitchen brings out the theatrics of the ocean as expert chefs perform their culinary tricks to satisfy even the most exacting food critic.
The voyage into the culinary flavours of The Ocean are limitless. Whether it’s the simplicity of fish and chips, or the more elaborate pepper crab, a quick-grilled seer in lemon butter, stingray or a Sri Lankan prawn curry, the chefs at The Ocean showcase perfect skills in dishing up some of the best seafood ever tasted. And of course, the chef-d’oeuvre throughout is Sri Lankan crab, from the smallest to the largest and made to any preference.
The Ocean serves both lunch and dinner with the addition of a Sunday Crab Brunch that places that unique Sri Lankan crab in the spotlight.
The restaurant’s interiors are contemporary, with copper features and chandeliers creating an almost Thomas Kinkade painting of luminosity, echoing an avant-garde feel of undersea corals. The bar resonates the undulating waves of the sea in its circular modernity, holding the central spot within the restaurant.
At The Ocean, the magic of the sea is featured right on the plate. Fresh, flavourful and refreshing, whether at lunch when the sun’s rays dance upon the waves or when watching a picturesque sunset that moves into a starlit night, each epicurean promise is assailed by that freshness of flavour that only the ocean possesses.
