In a bid to deliver to lovers in the island, Thambili Island Boutique was launched in Colombo recently, creating a one stop beach/gift boutique to showcase unique brands of Sri Lanka.
Thambili Island is a resort wear label that was launched in March 2018 and has been retailing at the Design Collective, Deep End and Tribe. Expanding as a separate boutique, the newly opened Thambili Island Boutique features a range of local brands such as Culture by Ari for menswear, Destiny by Minoli, Ceylon Swimwear, Cane Couture bags, Island Lush sandals and sliders to Skincare by Tathya, Accessories by Salvage, Coasters by Xylo and, Stationary and other memorabilia by Sustainably Yours and Source and Supply.
Thambili Island Co-Founder Dishnira Saparamadu stated that the Thambili Island Boutique was an artisanal curation of several home-grown brands and that they have all been carefully selected and put together in an effort to create a one stop shop for beach and resort wear and gifts in the heart of Colombo.
“Ethical fashion and community empowerment have always been close to my heart and was a key factor when I started my label, Thambili Island,” she stated, “Staying true to these values, we work closely with a talented group of local artisans to bring all our Thambili Island pieces to life. I’ve always wanted to open my own boutique but I knew I wanted to create a space, not just for my label but for other local, ethical brands as well. We’re proud to say that we have a selection of some incredible local brands here. All items and brands featured in the boutique are from Sri Lanka and that is what is so important to us; that we can help and grow together with these brands.” Thambili Island Co-Founder Shehan Ariyarathne, who is also the founder of the brand ‘Culture by Ari’, spoke on the tropical shirts brand retailed in the boutique: “We create the perfect island shirts for any occasion.
Designed with comfort in mind, we strive to deliver you fun and exciting prints made in ever-sosoft fabrics that are ideal for island living.”
The newly-opened Thambili Island Boutique is located in No. 50, Ward Place, Colombo 7.
