The Sooriya Village is excited to host its annual New Year’s Eve dinner on Sunday 31 December from 7 p.m. onwards!
Celebrate the end of an amazing year with your family and friends at The Sooriya Village for a night that is bound to deliver in authentic Sri Lankan grandeur as it features spectacular traditional Sri Lankan performances and grace your taste-buds with its delightful buffet specially catered by none other than Koluu for this joyous occasion!
The entertainment for the night will feature a range of diverse performances all showcasing historical and culturally important elements of our blessed island. Low country dances, such as thelme and ‘Devil Dances’, originating from the central hills of Kandy, will be performed which are ceremonial dances that are known for appeasing evil spirits and spreading good vibrations all around.
Naga raksha (Mask of the Cobra) and Guruluraksha (Mask of the Bird), the inspiration of our famous mascots in the foyer, will be featured in the ‘Mask Dance’ performances to symbolically represent the appreciation of traditional arts here in The Sooriya Village. Other performances of the night also include Gini Sisila (fire dance) and Salu Paliya (Shawl dance), the latter being a dynamic and energetic comedy skit that is certain to make even the most rigid of us crack a smile.
If the performances aren’t enough, the specially designed buffet for the event will most definitely entice you! Indulge in delicious dishes such as Sautèed Prawns in a Mexican Chili Salsa, Roasted Pork sliced and served with a Rosemary and Mint Gravy and Grilled Fillet of Chicken in Creamy Coconut Sauce, which are a few of the mains that we’ll be serving for the night. Additionally, there will be an array of mouth-watering appetizers, sides and desserts, such as an Assorted Cold Meat and Cheese Platter and Hot Date Pudding with Crème Anglaise, to continue to please your cravings in anticipation of the New Year.
