Christmas is one of the most awaited days of the year and as 2018 draws to a close, Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka will be hosting a Christmas market titled ‘Christmas with a Cause’ to be held on 15 and 16 December from 9 a.m. onwards at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Kynsey Road, Colombo 8 (Parish Hall and Grounds).
All proceeds from the event will be channelled towards funding the mission of Habitat for Humanity – which is centred on the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to call home. Habitat Sri Lanka recognises the immeasurable value a home has on every man, woman and child in Sri Lanka – and funds raised through this event will enable Habitat Sri Lanka to keep providing more families with safe and affordable places to call home.
This Christmas market will include over 30 stalls ranging from Christmas goodies, Christmas décor and handmade greeting cards, sweet and savoury food items, clothes and shoes, handmade jewellery, kids and baby items, household items, bed linen and towels, imported food items and a special garage sale stall filled with pre-loved items on sale. There will also be an attractive Christmas pop-up photo booth hosted by InstaFlash for families to take instant photographs with Santa; and a special Kiddies Corner with face-painting, a bouncy castle, gifts and fun games for all the little ones to enjoy the spirit of Christmas.
‘Christmas with a Cause’ also intends to provide a space for the young children to engage with peers and learn new skills while enjoying themselves, and towards this end there will be a variety of special workshops being conducted during the course of the event.
Stagecraft School of Musical Theatre and Performance Arts will host a workshop for children between the ages of five to 13 years on the theme of ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas’ by Dr. Seuss underlying the true meaning of Christmas and enabling little minds to perceive the true spirit of Christmas through drama and performance arts. For inquiries and pre-bookings please contact Stagecraft on 0772278878.
Young Minds Creative Corner will conduct special Arts & Crafts workshops for children between the ages of three to 12 years including a Christmas themed arts and crafts corner, face painting, puppet show and Christmas storytelling together with music and dance for the little ones. ‘Christmas with a Cause’ is sponsored by the generosity of sponsors such as Janashakthi Insurance PLC (Platinum Sponsor), Stafford International School (Gold Sponsor) and Heritage Teas Ltd. (Silver Sponsor), while the official Banking Partner of the event is Hatton National Bank PLC.
Every donation received towards ‘Christmas with a Cause’ will empower families to transform their lives – so join hands with Habitat Sri Lanka on this worthy initiative and touch the lives of the less fortunate while you celebrate the spirit of Christmas.
