Genelle, the handcrafted shoes that pamper feet, providing trendy fashion for the discerning lady, established its presence in Mt. Lavinia to provide loyal customers an unparalleled experience during shopping expeditions. The simple ceremony was conducted with few of its loyal customers present, establishing another milestone.

The range of footwear first produced as a sub contract order, in the garage of Damaris and Sheran Wickramasekera’s parents, by Damaris’s mum, Joan who is now 94 years, has gone through a tremendous journey. The brand ‘Genelle’ came into being approximately three decades ago and is making waves as a brand that pampers feet.

With the intention of providing customers full exposure to the full range of product enabling them to browse leisurely, in luxury and to choose what they desire, the store has been designed matching the ambience of a footwear outlet in any trendy city of the world.

Good footwear, whether from an aesthetic or a comfort perspective, scores high on a woman’s list of needs. If your feet are not pampered, however elegant your outfit maybe, you are bound to be very uncomfortable. The reality is that footwear plays a major part in the grooming process for any woman, whatever her age or destination.

Choosing appropriate footwear is not an easy task, with design, comfort, size and quality all adding to the complexity of the choice.

Genelle has made it its business to provide fashionable solutions to this complex problem. The specially handcrafted shoes in the portfolio offer international styles and designs that are made, sized and finished to fit the needs of the local customer.

“Over the last three decades, we have learnt through experience what works for the local customers, and we have been able to deliver styles/designs, comfort, quality all in one. That is the key reason for the growing loyal customer base we have,” says Sheran Wickremesekara, the creator of Genelle. “Our shoes are hand made to provide that perfect fit as well as durability. I am extremely elated as we go through this expansion and am grateful to the dedicated team of Genelle for making all this possible.”

EDB former Director Indira Malwatte who has always been a fan of the brand stated: “I have never needed any other footwear as Genelle is my choice for footwear any time. I believe this is a brand that should go conquer the world.”

Genelle handcrafted shoes offer both formal and casual wear, as well as footwear for more glamorous and special occasions, such as parties and weddings. With the flagship store in Colombo 5 and an outlet in the One Galle Face Mall, the Mt. Lavinia outlet joins as the third.
