Young and trendy Sri Lankan apparel brand CMB 1948 debuted last year with a collection of premium t-shirts which sold out in no time.
Started by two young entrepreneurs, Akarsha Weerasooriya and Saliya Gunasekara, both former Thomians, CMB 1948 introduced a new element of style to a social media savvy generation of shoppers. To celebrate the season, CMB 1948 has introduced a new line of ‘Essential’ t-shirts to enhance the concept of gift-giving. “Our seasonal collection of t-shirts makes the perfect gift,” says Akarsha. “It’s a versatile unisex collection that is curated specially for the discerning.”
CMB 1948 takes pride in its attention to detail and functionality in creating comfortable yet fashionable clothing, says Saliya. “The highest quality and the trendiest colours and shapes are our brand’s best known features,” he revealed.
Available in specially curated colours such as white, coral, black and navy blue, CMB 1948 Essentials has been launched for both men and women. “The entire collection is made with premium fabric. Essentials takes pride of place as a collection which focuses on a concept of wearing well-cut clothes for any and every occasion.”
CMB 1948 takes inspiration from everything Sri Lankan which is reflected in its name, highlighting Colombo as a destination and 1948 as the country’s year of independence.
“CMB 1948 is proudly made in Sri Lanka and seeks to meet international standards – from quality levels to the trends we reflect.”
As social media influencers for their generation, both Akarsha and Saliya understand perfectly well what works fashion-wise. CMB 1948 collections are developed carefully, in keeping with changing trends and choices. The brand echoes a strong Sri Lankan identity which is trendy and hip while being functional and appealing.
