Sri Lanka’s city of Colombo remains neglected, congested and dirty. For example, I invite the Colombo Mayor to go down Serpentine Road in Borella, the road to the Oval grounds, which at one time was our only test venue.
Thousands of people live in this area. Is that a suitable environment for humans to live in? In front of the Tamil Union Club, the road is like a lunar landscape. This is not because of recent rains. It has been like this for more than a year .
This road leads to the brand-new apartments built for senior public servants. One would have thought that at least these senior public servants would move on the matter and have the road leading to their apartments repaired. No, they are Sri Lankan public servants, they see no faults around them. Besides, it is not their problem, somebody else has to fix it.
