Wella, the world’s leader in hair care has partnered with the Sri Lanka Association of Hair Dressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB) to present the Wella Colour Award at this year’s annual competition and awards.
The Wella Colour Award is offered to two categories – Ladies and Gents Fashion Colour Trends (in any age group) with all participants using a live model each.
Prior to the competition, a detailed seminar will be conducted by Technical Head of Wella Sri Lanka and celebrated hairdresser Johann Peries at the Wella Studio explaining the dos and don’ts with regard to the Wella Colour Trophy.
A member of the prestigious world body of hairdressers – l’Organisation Mondiale des Coiffeurs (OMC), Peries has the unique honour of being the only internationally qualified judge in Sri Lanka.
The hair colour of the models will be initially done in the presence of Wella officials at the Wella Studio and thereafter judged at the SLAHAB final competition on 12 and 13 February.
The state-of-the-art Wella Studio occupies a charming 260-year old historic Dutch house on the Kotte Road and trains local stylists, hair dressers and colourists on the use of Wella products.
This includes a series of technical training sessions after which the stylists will receive a certificate of participation.
Visiting international hair dressers will also share their vast expertise and know-how at the Wella Studio at regular intervals, and thereby help elevate local standards.
An exciting part of the Wella Studio are regular model shows through which participants practice their skills and gain hands-on, practical knowledge.
In addition to the coveted Wella Colour Award, the top winners in each of the two categories will also receive entrance tickets to the prestigious Japan Trend Vision Awards 2012.
The Japan Trend Vision Awards takes place on 11 September this year and draws hundreds of hair dressers, stylists and specialists from all over the world.
The two lucky Sri Lankan stylists will get the unique opportunity of participating in additional seminars and workshops, visit top end Japanese salons and experience first-hand their functioning. Added to this are also be visits to Japanese hairdressing schools where they can, in turn, further hone their skills.
