Vijitha Yapa Publications has released the company’s new pictorial desk calendar for 2012 featuring colourful scenes from various well known places in Sri Lanka.
The cover has a dramatic picture of the Pinnawela elephants climbing up the embankment after their bath. The beautiful photographs include those of well known tourist sites as well as festivals.
Priced at just Rs. 450, it is an ideal gift to be given to loved ones, friends and also clients, the company said. The purpose of bringing out the diary at an early date is to facilitate those who want to send it to friends abroad, by sea mail or through friends travelling overseas.
A unique feature of the calendar is that each picture is detachable and can be used as an individual picture post card. The diary is enclosed in an attractive box, so that no separate packing is necessary.
The photographs are by Vijitha and Lalana Yapa and this is the eighth edition in which their creative photography has been used to illustrate uniquely Sri Lankan situations and places.
Vijitha Yapa is a journalist, whose photographs have appeared in prestigious publications including Asiaweek, the International Herald Tribune, the Financial Times and The Times London. He is the author of four books.
