With over one billion Buddhists all over the world preparing themselves to celebrate the 2600th anniversary of the Enlightenment of Buddha, more popularly known to us Sri Lankans as the  Sri Sambuddhathwa Jayanti, Colombo has already drawn up a huge programme to commemorate this event. With the longest continuous history of Buddhism of any Buddhist nation, Sri Lanka boasts of a largely unbroken linage of the “Sangha” since its introduction in the 2nd century.



Thus, in commemoration of this most holy event, which falls on the on the full moon of May, the cities and temples are decorated with countless lanterns, pandols and oil lamps displaying solemn religious celebration.

In keeping with the solemnity and the holiness of this most sacred day, the Galadari Hotel converts its main dinner buffet at the Coffee Shop to an entirely vegetarian menu. With the salad bar, soups and the main courses revolving round a purely vegetarian theme, our chefs will take exceptional care in preparing a special line of desserts in keeping with the vegetarian Theme.

The salad buffet includes an inviting spread of prepared salads in which you’d find a wide variety to choose from.  Ranging from a simple green salad to Chinese or Texan salads we guarantee a whole new world of taste experiences.

The main buffet counters serves up a bounty of vegetarian dishes that will invite you to discover flavours from all over Asia. From Indian, Chinese, Thai, Malay and our very own Sri Lankan and Jaffna flavours, the buffet offers a range of enticing choices. Adding on to the vegetarian buffet, we have also introduced a fresh juice counter as a part of the buffet.
