SriLankan Airlines’ air taxi is fast becoming a popular mode of transport for corporate clients who want to take a quick ride out of the city for a day of business or leisure.
Recently, Ceylinco Life’s Platinum Category, a group of 20 premium Club members and their families, were hosted to a day’s outing in Kandy, by the insurance company.
SriLankan Airlines’ two Twin Otter air taxis flew out the group to Victoria and Polgolla in Kandy in half an hour and flew them back to Colombo also in half an hour, after spending the day in Kandy, thus cutting down the travel time between Colombo and Kandy and return from six hours to just over an hour.
Host Ceylinco Life, chartered the two aircraft, on several flights between Colombo and Kandy, replacing a tedious journey by road to an exciting half an hour ride over the Western slopes of the country into the central hills of Kandy, with a breathtaking aerial view of Western Sri Lanka.
The Platinum Club members also experienced the smooth and refreshing water take off and landing in the Kelani River at Peliyagoda in Colombo and at Victoria and Polgolla in Kandy.
Besides its scheduled flights to Kandy, Bentota, Koggala and Dickwella, the air taxi can be chartered for leisure outings or for quick transfers to any of the air taxi’s current destinations. The air taxi also offers scenic rides of half an hour from any of its existing destinations.
The option of returning to Colombo the same day after concluding their business in another city, has proved to be a big attraction to corporate customers in addition to the time saved on a quick half an hour to 45 minute flight to any of the air taxis current destinations.
Corporates like Moet Hennessy, MAS Holdings, Arc Worldwide (integrate arm of Leo Burnett solutions), Mackwoods, Finlays, Orient Lanka and Odel, have chartered the air taxis for their travel within the country.
