Internationally renowned kathak duo Nalini and Kamalini with Guru Jitendra Maharaj arrived at the Taj Samudra, Colombo on Saturday.
Subsequently they performed at a concert organised by the Indian Cultural Centre on Indian National Day, 15 August.
The concert was an absolute hit as many fans were present at the Bishop’s College Auditorium to welcome the duo in high spirits.
Nalini and Kamalini are expected to travel in Sri Lanka before they return to India on 21 August.
The duo is amongst the select few Indian dancers who have made it to the top of the pyramid with their mastery of skill and technique in the school of dance. They are the devoted disciples of Kathak Maestro, Guru Jitendra Maharaj of Varanasi Gharana.
The sisters Nalini and Kamalini are bestowed with uncommon artistic qualities of natural construction, grace, sweetness, clarity and perfection. They are also known for their elaborated sensitivities and refinement. Both the aesthete and purist are pleased with their style. The duo is well acquainted in the consorted arts of music and literature. They are as respected throughout India as they are abroad.
