Brass in Focus |
It’s one of the most celebrated wine festivals in the world, the traditions and customs over the years has created an highly publicised ,most frivolous and animated rituals which starts in villages of the region of Beaujolais just south of Burgundy, France. As the clock strikes midnight on the third Thursday of November, the new vintages of Beaujolais Nouveau cases begin their journey for immediate shipment to all parts of France and other countries.
The banners will proclaim “Beaujolais nouveau has arrived…”Over 60 million bottles of fresh fruity wines, which compromise of half of the regions annual wine production will race each other through various means of transportations such as motor cycles, balloon, truck, helicopter, jets, rickshaws runners or even elephants to be the first to serve their wine at bars, cafes, restaurants all over the world.
For some logical analysts’ this race from grape to glass might be silly, because Beaujolais Nouveau doesn’t have the pedigree to be a classic wine, but half the fun is knowing that on the same night all over the world, the same celebrations takes place where families and friends celebrate life, good harvests, and the arriving of the festive season .
Beaujolais Noveau is as close to a white wine a red wine can get. Due to the way it is made. With less tannin and the process taking a much lesser time period than the usual red wine process true to its name “nouveau” wine is an easy-to-drink fruity wine.
Consumed chilled, should be enjoyed in “high spirits” than critiqued. Due to its “light”, “fresh” qualities this wine is known to be a great transitional win for anyone wanting to move from white wine to red, or for beginners.
To compliment this wine, Mount Lavinia Hotel has invited Chef Nicolas Clavier from, Astor Hotel in Paris to create a mouth watering buffet menu, with authentic Traditional Bourgogne Dishes.
