Want to make a difference to the food you eat? Want to help to build community awareness of the importance of farming, good, clean, fair and local food? Come with the MLH on a journey to discover the diversity of ‘Slow Food Australian’ with Justin Dingle on 27 August at the Horizon Roof Top.

The Slow Food movement at MLH supports good, clean, fair and local food in ways that enhance knowledge, respect and passion. By hosting this event MLH educates its guests to share food at a convivial table, with awareness and responsibility.

Slow Food is an event which is well received by its regular clientele and is about ‘eco-gastronomy,’ it appreciates not only food itself but also things ‘outside the plate,’ such as the method of cooking, the producers and the food’s history.

“We believe that good food shouldn’t be an upmarket thing; we should all have the right to enjoy good, clean and fair food in everyday living,” said Anura Dewapura, General Manager of the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

The evening will be spent in gourmet food style. The menu features a range of authentic dishes across Australia. Items such as traditional damper with new age spreads and relishes, the great Aussie pie bake, rare reef fish with char sui oxtail, bush spiced rare tuna with wasabi mash, beer marinated grilled Aussie sirloin with goat cheese scones and balsamic cherries and lemongrass tini with shrimp are just a few to name.

The Australian Slow Food Night takes pride in this wonderful experience specially formulated by Chef Justin Dingle. Justin will indeed make anyone’s experience as genuine as ever, in a true refined Aussie taste.

He said: “Slow Food links pleasure and food with awareness and responsibility, by forming networks between farmers and consumers.  Slow Food is a theme of ‘education of taste.’”

As stated by the founder of Slow Food, Carlo Petrini: “Good, clean and fair food is only possible with knowledge: the knowledge of those who bring food to the table and the knowledge of those who eat it.  Understanding more about our food, how it tastes and where it comes from makes the act of eating all the more pleasurable.

The event will be on 27 August at the MLH Horizon roof top and is priced at Rs. 2,900 nett per person.
