This year’s season of Leo Art will kick off at the Leo Burnett quadrangle on Saturday, 26 November. Launching its sixth season, Leo Art will feature work from seven undergraduates from the University of Visual and Performing Arts.
Leo Art is Leo Burnett’s artists-in-residence programme designed to encourage creativity in the fine arts, by providing artists with a space to express their creative ideas, collaborate with Agency teams on commercial projects and be seen and appreciated by a wider audience.
Explaining further about the programme, Leo Burnett’s Managing Director, Ranil De Silva said: “At Leo Burnett we believe that creativity in every form has the ability to transform human behaviour. We are very proud of our initiative to foster creativity in fine art and have an ambitious plan for Leo Art. I believe that the sixth season we are premiering this month has a wider selection of work from a cross section of artists.
“In addition to promoting creativity in marketing communications, we are happy to harness the creative talent of young local artists. Leo Art is designed to provide opportunities to such artist who have previously not been afforded a platform and are restricted by the lack of a place for them to display their work and their exceptional talent.”
Last year, Leo Art featured the work of six young undergraduates from the same university. The work of Sanjaya Senavirathna, Pramith Geekiyanage, Sathyajith Ranganatha, J.C Rathnayake, Vimukthi Sahan and Vishwajith Yashera was part of the fifth season of Leo Art.
This year Leo Art will continue to feature and support the work of J.C. Ratnayake, Sanjaya Seneviratne, Vimukthi Sahan and Vishwajith Yashera, while welcoming upcoming new artists M.G. Thilini Prabhashini Gunathilaka, Vikum Bandara and Indika Wijerathne.
