Hiru FM and Sooriyan FM, a part of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation, were named the ‘Best Radio Stations in South Asia’ at the 2011 South Asian Manthan Awards.
The Manthan Awards were the first of its kind to recognise best practices in ICT implementations across India and South Asia. The eighth Manthan Awards in South Asia recognised emerging and budding digital innovators with winners being selected by an international panel of judges.
Hiru FM and Sooriyan FM set up a special stall at the International Summit held alongside the awards ceremony. Competing with competitors from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and many other South Asian Countries, Hiru FM and Sooriyan FM were the first and only radio stations from Sri Lanka that were nominated and awarded at the South Asian Manthan Awards.
“Hiru FM and Sooriyan FM have always strived to ensure that we bring the best to our listeners in Sri Lanka and around the world. We were able to win this prestigious award because it was able to bring Sri Lankans around the world closer together. Being innovative, hard working and creative is what sets us apart from our competitors,” stated Rayynor Silva, Chairman, ABC Radio Network.
