Galle Face Hotel wins 42 medals at ‘Culinary Art 2011’

The Chef’s Guild of Sri Lanka is a prestigious association of Sri Lanka’s finest professional chefs. An organisation dedicated to the professional development of chefs and cooks in our island nation, it organises the Chef’s Guild Awards annually.

This year the historic Galle Face Hotel walked home with a whopping 42 medals, seven more than it won last year.

In the Food section, Chef Sanjeewa walked home with five medals: 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Coming in a close second was Chef Pathum who won four medals: 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 2 Gold medals.

The Chefs of Galle Face Hotel won under various categories in the Food section, from Pastry Show Piece to Chocolate Carving to Butter Carving to Hot Cooking. Chef Shean Grigson walked away with the most medals in the Beverage section, winning Silver medals for his Arrack Cocktail and Mocktail and a Bronze medal for his beer cocktail.

Galle Face Hotel in total won six Gold medals, 11 Silver medals and 25 Bronze medals.
