SriLankan Airlines’ Air Taxi flew its first bridal couple across the country along the coastal belt from Colombo to Koggala recently. The photograph captures Danushka Magage, who decided to fly with his beautiful bride Piuma down south, avoiding the hassle of a long-drawn road trip to the Fortress Hotel, Koggala.
“It was a fantastic ride and we both enjoyed the breathtaking scenery on a clear sunny day and above all being up in the skies all by ourselves on our special day,” he said.
The SriLankan Airlines Air Taxi took-off from its Peliyagoda dock and over 30 minutes and within 1,500-2,000 feet up in the air, afforded a bird’s eye view of the island’s pristine scenery and landed on Koggala Lake, surrounded by the beautifully landscaped gardens of the Air Force base.
In its scheduled service, the Air Taxi also touches down in the Bentota River, Mawella Lagoon in Dikwella, Polgolla Reservior in Kandy and Lake Gregory in Nuwara Eliya. Charter flights are operated to Castlereagh Reservoir, Tissamaharama and Amparai.
