Blend of international culinary delights to spread a message of hope

‘Colombo Flavours’, featuring a wide array of international cuisines is a unique fundraising initiative under TRAIL, a 27-day walk from the South to the North of the country which aims to raise funds to build a paediatric cancer ward for the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

‘Colombo Flavours’ will take place on the 8 and 9 of July from 7pm to midnight at Green Path in Colombo. TRAIL, which began this month with unprecedented participation of physical and virtual walkers, will make a pit stop at the food festival as it passes through Colombo on its way to Jaffna.

The food festival will see the coming together of many top hotels and restaurants in Sri Lanka featuring cuisines from the international culinary arena. ‘Colombo Flavours’ will feature the Hilton, Cinnamon Lakeside, Cinnamon Grand, Galadari, Ramada, Galle Face Hotel, Ceylon Continental, Grand Oriental Hotel, Siam House, The Sizzle, Harpo’s, Mango Tree and Raja Bojun among many other restaurants.

Brand Ambassador for ‘Colombo Flavours’, Otara Gunawardene commenting on the initiative said, “Trail is the result of a team of dedicated individuals with a vision to improve the lives of children in need. It is a great pleasure to be a part of this worthy cause. You too can support this cause by visiting the ‘Colombo Flavours’ food festival.”

‘Colombo Flavours’ will also feature entertainment performances by Misty and Naadro among other artistes. All funds raised at the entrance will be channelled directly towards the building of the paediatric cancer ward in Jaffna. ‘Colombo Flavours’ is organized in conjunction with Sri Lanka Tourism and sponsored by Lily Pharmaceuticals and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.

On the 1 July Colors of Courage, a not for profit organization, launched TRAIL at the southernmost tip of the island with the hopes of culminating the epic journey at Point Pedro in the north. As nationwide effort and a symbol of unity, people from all walks of life joined TRAIL with a single goal of raising 200 million Rupees towards building a pediatric cancer ward in the Jaffna General Hospital.

Colours of Courage Trust, is dedicated to uplift cancer treatment facilities in Sri Lanka. Funds raised by the trust in the past are being utilised to build the Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units of the National Cancer Institute.
