Sri Lankan taste buds are attuned to Mexican cuisine for its exhilaratingly spicy flavours and colours, yet a satisfying Mexican meal is a challenge to find in Colombo.

Cinnamon Lakeside lends the expertise of Chef Alexandro towards the cause and will unveil its six day ‘Fiesta Mexicana’ on Saturday, 24 September. The ambience of the hotel’s poolside Terrace where the promotion is to take place will receive a Hispanic touch, adding to the splendour of the venue’s natural beauty.

Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo takes joy in bringing the world to your plate with their wide and varied international food promotions. Their culinary journey has circled the world, bringing you a taste of Moroccan, Indonesian, Russian, Indian, Singaporean, Japanese and other exotic cultures.

Mexican cuisine has evolved through the centuries with a blending of indigenous and European elements since the 16th century. The hotel explores this fusion with a lavish buffet of appetizers, soups, hot dishes, action stations, desserts and exotic beverages.

The menu which varies each day opens with santa fecellioche with mint, red chili seared tuna, smoked seer with mango relish, santa café prawns, roasted eggplant and sweet pepper salad, spicy black bean salad, tomato and cinnamon salad and assorted vegetables with jalapeno raspberry vinaigrette, blue cheese dressing, spicy Asian vinaigrette or green chili fennel citrus dressing. Soups vary between frijole charroze, lamb albondiga and black bean soup, whilst hot dishes include blackened beef medallions with ancho chili sauce, poblano seafood stew, bean and chorizo chimichangas, spinach and mushroom quesadillas, pork and cheese flautas, refried beans with feta cheese, jambalaya rice with seafood, blackened sea bass with roasted red pepper coulis, pican and jalapeno stuffed chicken roulade, roasted eggplant burritos, seafood enchiladas as well as seafood fajitas and tacos prepared à la minute.

Platanos machos or Mexican fried bananas, chocolate coconut flan, Mexican chocolate mousse with burnt rum, Mexican chocolate pie, dulce de camote – a sweet potato pie and buñuelos and an assortment of sweets will grace the dessert table.

The buffet begins at 7 p.m. and remains open until 11 p.m. The Fiesta Mexicana is a deal, priced at just Rs. 1,600++++ per person. Further inquiries and reservations may be made by contacting the hotel on 2491930.
