Chinese Christmas buffet at the Cinnamon Grand

A festive indulgence with an oriental twist is yours to savour this season as Cinnamon Grand brings you the exotic flavours of the Far East.  This ‘all you can eat’ dinner buffet, commencing 9 December to 30 December will be held at the Courtyard Restaurant from 7p.m. to 11p.m., and will offer diners the ultimate Chinese food experience. Starters, salads, soups, rice and noodles dishes, main courses, action stations are all part of this amazing spread, which offers over 50 dishes under one roof!

An added feature at the Chinese indulgence will be the special Dim Sum Station serving a range of dim sum – spicy chicken, prawn and vegetables, served with four different types of sauce.

“Chinese Food has a popular following in Sri Lanka and what better time of the year than the festive season to offer diners an indulgent of this nature, to add on to the celebrations?” Executive Chef Chaminda Liyanage said.

Seasoned in Chinese spices and sauces and cooked to perfection, each dish is a faithful homage to the original, but, with a Sri Lankan twist, so diners can make their own choices depending on their preference and spice intake.

The buffet which has something for everyone includes speciality dishes turned out using beef, pork, and chicken. Lamb, cuttlefish, prawns and fish.

Meat lovers, also have a range of BBQ options including the popular five spiced grilled chicken with char siu sauce.

For the vegetarians too there will be a choice of fresh vegetables from the wok, made a-la-minute.  Bean Curd with spring onion, Chinese cabbage with young corn, fried kankun and a mix of stir fried Vegetables all flavoured in vegetable based sauces, are some of the other options available.

The menu in detail will entail Starters such as spicy chicken wings, BBQ spare ribs, vegetable spring roll, prawn crackers, sesame prawn toast and satay chicken, whilst the health conscious can pick from raw papaya salad with sesame, tofu with fried onion and red beer and Chinese cabbage with Soya chilli dressing. There’s also a range with vermicelli with chilli prawns and egg.  

The rice and noodles section comprise mixed fried rice, egg fried rice, steamed rice, spicy Singapore vermicelli with chicken and shanghai noodles with prawns and vegetables, and the vegetable chow mein with bean sprouts.

 Popular meat dishes such as Szechuan beef, sautéed beef with hot pepper sauce, including chilli garlic pork with spring onion and shredded pork with bean sprouts are other items on the menu. Chicken based specialities include the spicy chilli chicken and diced chicken with cashew and pepper.  Fish, prawns and cuttlefish  dishes, taking inspiration from the different provincial styles of cooking and the more popular lamb based Chinese specialities are some of the other attractions of this sumptuous  feast.

A sweet ending to the meal, will be the choice of desserts. Diners can choose from Almond Jelly, Watermelon and Mixed Fruit Salad for lighter options, or give into total indulgence with delicious Banana Fritters and Almond Bean Curd!
