Cheese cakes at Ceylon Continental

From 18 to 26 October, some of the finest gourmet delights – cheese cakes – will be on offer at Café Conti, the Ceylon Continental Hotel’s pastry shop.

The Hotel is offering customers this sweet temptation between the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a choice built to satisfy all patrons from luncheon seekers to sojourners looking for a quick bite.

Cheesecakes of late have morphed into a necessary addition to any dessert menu; however Continental seeks to go three steps further in their promotion, served in the midst of a serene ambiance at the Hotel lobby. The hotel will offer exquisite non baked cheesecakes, with blueberry, strawberry, apple and cherry choices. “These non baked cheesecakes are made from the original combination of ingredients and preparation that led to the dessert being the most-sought-after in decades,” a spokesperson for the hotel said.

Also on offer are baked cheesecakes, with irresistible strawberry, caramel, chocolate and blueberry toppings and crumble.

However, there is nothing traditional about the Hotel’s third and most fascinating option. Bringing up the last third of the cheesecake promotion are delicious and rich – savoury cheesecakes. these include bacon, bell pepper and asparagus. Ravi Stanislaus, mastermind behind the promotion, believes foodies will jump at the chance to try out these esoteric delicacies.  “These three options do more than add wonderful flavor to the dish. They add festive colour, and they serve as hors d’oeuvres, quick meals, and even desserts, depending on the taste of the customer. Some of our combinations are gastronomic favourites. Cheese and bacon – what’s not to love!”

A take away option is priced at Rs. 360 nett for a large piece which will be equaling for two, but diners at Café Conti will be in for an additional treat; green tea for two along with the Rs. 360 special offer .
