Ceylon Continental lays out a spread for breaking fast

The Emerald at the Ceylon Continental Hotel promises a traditional and sumptuous spread that will serve people breaking fast during Ramadan, with a special refreshment corner. 

The Emerald’s Iftar spread will have fresh fruits, fresh juices, cordials, kanji and dates. The menu will also comprise a variety of salads along with vegetable or mutton samosas and to top it off an assortment of desserts will be available including omali.

This traditional break-fast menu priced at Rs. 700 nett per person will be available from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. between 3 and 31 August.

The hotel will also have a special Ramadan take-away menu at Café Conti available from 12 noon to 10 p.m. between 3 and 31 of August. The take away will comprise of a traditional ‘sawan’ with a chicken sawan priced at Rs. 3,500 or mutton sawan priced at Rs. 4,500 – biriyani with malay pickle, mint chutney, boiled eggs, cashew and carrot curry, raita and wattalappan.

The Ceylon Continental Hotel promises all patrons taking advantage of the Emerald break fast spread and Sawan promo at the Cafè Conti nothing less than an authentic Ramadan culinary experience which will have them looking forward to it every year. For Sawan orders, the hotel requests patrons to make their orders 24 hours in advance.

The Ceylon Continental embarked on this culinary adventure with the hope of reaching out to the Islamic community and those that appreciate traditional Islamic food. Whether one chooses the break-fast menu at the Emerald or orders a sawan to share with a minimum of six friends or family, an unforgettable gastronomic journey awaits.
