Spending Christmas on the beautiful sun-kissed beaches of Sri Lanka is the very stuff of which dreams are made of – and with Jetwing Beach in Negombo these dreams are apt to become a reality.

Jetwing Beach will be celebrating this holiday season with scrumptious cuisine, traditional carols, and various other fun filled activities. However unlike most Christmas celebrations the festivities won’t be over in a day, but instead will be a 12-day event following the tradition of Christmastide which is popularly known as the 12 Days of Christmas. These 12 days will certainly be memorable days during which a tropical Christmas will come alive.

Jetwing Beach is spectacularly located among palm tree gardens that stretch out along the golden sands of the seaside hamlet of Negombo. It is an ideal site amidst which one can encounter the effects of a Christmas spent in the southern hemisphere.

Equipped with a spa and a jacuzzi, the hotel epitomizes luxury and romance and with a whole range of water sports adventure is an eventuality. This December it will also feature a Christmas that is quintessentially unique to Jetwing Beach, ensuring that all guests at the hotel are left with a lasting impression of this holiday season.

The 12 Days of Christmas kicked off on 21 December with a mouth-watering range of seafood and a sizzler steak night. However the staff and guests did not forget the spirit of sharing and giving that is central to the meaning of Christmas and this meant that income from a cocktail promotion was donated to an orphanage for differently-abled children, while that night’s entertainment of Christmas carols was provided by the choir of the School for the Deaf and Blind. The next day was followed by an evening bonfire and Oriental music.

In the days leading up to Christmas Day, Jetwing Beach had a live festive cookery demonstration, a demonstration for the kids by pastry chef Ravi, lighting up and decorating the Christmas tree, a tequila sunset and a nativity play enacted to the sound of live Christmas carols being sung by the Jetwing Beach choir.

A wide variety of interesting activities is one way in which Jetwing Beach seeks to ensure that all its guests have a choice of activities that they can pick from. For, as Hyacinth Gunawardene, General Manager at Jetwing Beach pointed out, “Diversity is essential to ensuring that guests are kept happy and satisfied during their stay at the hotel.”

Nevertheless, it is clear that Jetwing Beach does not simply seek to only satisfy its visitors but to ensure that they are enthralled with the entire Jetwing Beach Christmas experience. The hotel’s warm hospitality came out in full force on Christmas Eve when a seven course dinner and soothing jazz music by Rex and the Jazz Dynamos prepared the mind and spirit for Christmas day.

The pinnacle of the season, which is 25 December, was heralded in by a firework extravaganza on the beach the night before and a champagne breakfast on the morning of Christmas Day, which undoubtedly set everyone in the best possible spirits.

The bonhomie atmosphere was complete with Santa’s visit to all the kids at the hotel, an evening bonfire and a delicious hopper night to end the day. After the excitement of Christmas Day, Boxing Day was the day to unwind by the pool or take a dip in the sea; however Jetwing Beach provided soprano music courtesy of Gayathrie and Bill to soothe the mind and taste of even the most seasoned critique.

Culinary delights dot the menus in the days leading up to the New Year. From Vietnamese sesame chicken to a seafood extravaganza, the meals promise to be absolutely delicious. On the eighth day of Christmas at Jetwing Beach (28 December) there weren’t eight maids a milking but instead a culinary tour which fascinated all those who wished to have a greater knowledge of cuisine.

Likewise 31 December at Jetwing Beach will provide the ideal setting at which to say goodbye to the old year and welcome in the New Year. A gala New Year’s Eve dinner, jazz music and a fireworks display will create an intimate setting that can be shared with family and friends.

As the 12 drummers drumming signify the end of the 12 days of Christmas at Jetwing Beach, they also indicate the beginning of a New Year which can be begun at this beautiful hotel by the sea. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate this festive season in an exceptionally unique way with Jetwing Beach.
