The global startup scene has seen great momentum in recent years with content and advice available with regard to funding and other aspects being available freely. However, there has not been enough done about providing solid technical advice for startups, particularly in Sri Lanka, until now!
The Hatchery by WSO2 is a unique program that aims to fill this gap by providing technical expertise free of charge to deserving startups. WSO2 itself has been a startup at one point in their journey and thus understand the difficulties and challenges a startup would face, especially from a technology standpoint. This is WSO2’s way of giving back to the community they ‘grew up’ in.
“We’ve learnt the hard way! As part of our overall efforts to help the community, we wanted to share our learnings, experiences, and knowledge in a structured way,” said WSO2 Founder, CEO and Chief Architect Sanjiva Weerawarana.
He added that the program will first be rolled out to potential startups in Sri Lanka and will ‘eventually be extended to the global community’. While a large part of the program will focus on sharing WSO2’s technical expertise, there will also be some knowledge sharing on how other activities are handled, such as marketing, sales and operations.
The first Hatchery event will be held at WSO2 offices in Colombo on 5 November and the deadline for applications is 20 October.
